crawford.jpg (15910 bytes)Jimmy Crawford will join Cardiff on Friday for a trial period. Crawford is an American born Irishman. 24 year old Crawford was born in Chicago but moved back to Ireland when he was a child.

Thanks to NigelBlues for a brief breakdown.
City are about to take 26 yr old Jimmy Crawford, an American born Irish player, from Reading.  He's described as a utility player.  He can play as a defence (where City may try him) or midfield (where he usually appears).  He'll be on trial initially with a view to a permanent signing.

Crawford's currently negotiating release from Reading to join City for the Irish trip next week where, ironically, he could be playing for City against Bohemians, his first club.

There's a very strong suspicion that he's probably Paul Brayson's best mate in football (& Brayson has tipped off City) as they seem to follow each other a la Legg and Bowen.

Brayson/Crawford were at Newcastle together (who paid £75k for him) and they signed for Reading on the same day when Tommy Burns paid £50k for him as one of 10 players signed on transfer deadline day in March 1998.

He's been very much a reserve at Reading with just 17 league apparences (1 goal) in his time there.  His only other league appearences in 5 seasons were 11 games on loan for Rotherham in 1996.
