| Wed 19th Jan 2000 - City looking at non league players? | |
| January Headlines |
Reports in the Echo today suggest we could be taking a look at two non league players. 18 year old Andrew Mumford, a defender from Llanelli is attracting interest from the other Welsh league teams and is currently on trial at Grimsby. Andrew played for Llanelli last Friday in a game watched by Frank Burrows. Llanelli beat the leagues top team Barry Town by 2 goals to 1 and Mumford has an exceptional game. As usual the canny Scotsman would not confirm who he was watching. Ex Welsh international Leighton James predicts the youngster will go on to play for wales. Mumford is in Grimsby at the moment and is hoping to play in a reserve team game for them tonight against Birmingham. A second possible target is Gloucester City midfielder Jimmy Cox. Cox played for Gloucester at Merthey last night, his flick on helping them to a 1 - 0 win over the Martyrs. George Wood was at the game as was Swindon boss Jimmy Quinn, Cox is reported to be the target but George this time would not say who he was watching. |
