Congratulations
to Yeovil. Our good friends are currently top of the Nationwide Conference and gave 2nd
Div Colchester a good hammering at Huish park. Yeovil won the game 5 - 1 and earned an
away tie at Blackpool. There were two other giant killing games today. Kingstonian went to Brentford and shocked the second division team by coming away with a 3 - 1 win. Gateshead progressed to the 2nd round for the first time ever after beating Halifax 2 - 0. There was no joy for the two Welsh teams in the Cup today. Wrexham, after beating the likes of Arsenal and Middlesbrough in recent years went down by a goal to nil against Rotherham. Swansea were away at Bournemouth and left Dean Court disappointed with a 2 - 0 reverse. Brighton, City's opponents in the 1st rd of the LDV Cup picked up a 6 - 2 win at Aldershot. Carlisle and Darlington scored 5 and 6 respectively over Woking and Sudbury. City's next league opponents Lincoln had a comfortable 4 - 0 home win over Bracknell. First rd results so far. |
