At last news to report.

Richard Carpenter (according to a posting on the messageboard tonight from Steve Borley) has agreed a move to Brighton and Hove Albion. Chippy turned down a move to the South Coast 12 months ago when the Seagulls offered £50,000 for him. It now looks like they have their man for free. Chippy is from the South East and with a new young family prefers to be nearer to home. Full confirmation should follow in the next day or two. Best wishes to Richard and thanks for the effort you have put in.

Winston Faerber has signed for Den Bosch in Holland. Den Bosch have just been relegated from the Dutch Premier division.

On the incoming side there is nothing concrete to report. There has been a whisper that City are looking at two players from Oxford. Jamie Cook is a winger and Rob Folland is a right back, Folland is a Welsh U21 intnl. Oxford do not want to let these players go but they are out of contract and have refused a 12 month deal at the Manor Ground. Paul Brayson of course is still expected to sign a permanent move and there is still speculation over Lee Jones, the keeper from Bristol Rovers.

So here is a run down of the current situation.

Manager. Billy Ayre is still under contract at Ninian Park but has not signed a deal confirming him as manager.

Players released.

Mike Ford has taken up a coaching role at Oxford Utd.

Winston Faerber as mentioned above has signed for Den Bosch in Holland.

Lee Phillips and Pat Jennings have both been released, no news on where either player will go.

Players put on the transfer list.

Seamus Kelly is attracting interest from a couple of clubs in Ireland, St Patricks the favourites to sign him.

Dai Thomas, Schwinke, Chris Roberts and Jamie Hughes are all on the transfer list. They are still under contract but are surplus to requirements. Should no one come in for them they will remain at Ninian Park but in the knowledge they are not wanted.

Players offered new contracts.

Jon Hallworth has signed a new one year deal.

Jeff Eckhardt was originally released but has since signed a new deal at Ninian Park where he will assist the youth set up but retain his registration and play when required. I understand Jeff has taken a pay cut but will earn a play bonus when he does get a game.

Richard Carpenter as mentioned above will sign for Brighton.

Danny Hill. Danny has not signed a new deal yet, there has been rumours that he wants to leave, rumours that he wants to stay. It really is 50/50. We'll have to wait and see.

Jason Fowler appears to be more 75/25 that he will move away. He's been linked to Brentford, Reading, Swindon and Swansea (in fact most places along the M4 corridor except Membury Services). Like Danny we are waiting for news.

Lee Skelly and Paul Buttery from the youth team have signed professional contracts with Cardiff City.

So then for sure we have the following players.

Goalkeepers. Jon Hallworth, Paul Buttery.

Defence. Young, Perrett, Legg, Eckhardt, Skelly.

Midfield. Bonner, Boland, Brazier, Bowen, Low.

Strikers. Nugent, Nogan, Earnshaw.

Possibles (if they sign contract).

Fowler, Hill.

Waiting to leave.

Kelly, Roberts, Hughes, Thomas, Schwinkendorf.

Incoming.

Probable - Paul Brayson.

Rumour - Lee Jones, Jamie Cook, Rob Folland.
