The Blues are staying up!! OK a bit too premature to be singing such happy songs but after seeing City score three goals for the first time since, well, since we beat Colchester last time. Our first league double conincided with an absolutely blinding effort from Kevin Nugent to win the game. Word amongst the press is that there are only two goals worth seeing from this weeks football, Nugents of course and some Italian fella, Batty something who aparrantly scored the other day.

City domintated the first half but threw away a goal lead in the last minute of the half. Jason Bowen had given City the lead on 34 mins when he capitalised on a poor clearance from Brown in the Colchester goal. Bowen ran on avoiding a couple of challenges and fired the ball home from just insode the box. Slack defending though allowed Jason Dozzell to scramble home an equaliser on the stroke of half time.

City had been blinding in the first half, they hit the bar twice and created a hatful of chances, a couple early on falling to new signing Brayson. Maybe a lack of confidence but he should have finish better on a couple of occasions when he shot and headed direct at the keeper, that said, at least he was in the right place to get an effort on goal.

For 20 mins at the start of the second half City were ragged. Lua Lua showed why Premiership clubs are chasing him by putting the U's into the lead with a great strike, he should never have been allowed all the time and space but he finished well from the edge of the box afetr cutting in from the touchline. It was hard to take, after such a good first half display. But the crowd kept faith and another howler by Brown allowed Jason Bowen to get his and City's second. A long high ball was falling between Brown and one of his defenders Jason Fowler was there to add to their confusion neither keeper or defender claimed the ball and it broke free for Bowen to hammer home from the edge of the box.

With City taking the edge the unthinkable happened we scored again. Nugent fired home a cracker after a ball from Andy Legg. Nuge flicked it up, turned and hit an unstoppable volley for the edge of the box. It was a goal to win any game and the euphoria then and at the final whistle was incredible.

Now onto Chesterfield on Tuesday. More of the same please.
