Cardiff City have appointed David Temme as Chief Executive of the football club. Also Vice Chairman Paul Guy has stepped aside and allowed Michael Isaacs to take over. The news was broken to shareholders at a meeting at Ninian Park last night. The decision had been made at an earlier board meeting where all the directors bar one were present. I was at the shareholders meeting and I must say I was impressed with the way Mr Temme was speaking. He appears to know his business. He did of course make the Cardiff Devils the force they are today in Britich Ice Hockey and the commercial side of that business is booming. Its his responsibilty to create the same commercial strength at Cardiff City.

The following press release has been issued by Cardiff City football Club.

David Temme, the former Chief Executive of Celtic Leisure (Cymru) Plc, the owners of the BT Cardiff Devils, has been appointed the Chief Executive of Cardiff City Football Club. David takes up his new position with immediate effect and expects to be in his office as from Monday 20th March. "Like any new appointment we want to start work as soon as possible", Temme said "I've had some great years with the ice hockey but I now can't wait to get stuck in to this fantastic job with The City. Cardiff City is already a big part of my life and I know that working with this Board of Directors I can make a difference and strengthen the commercial basis of the club" he added. "Alongside improvement, the board can continue their investment and that includes players". Temme then stressed that the playing squad was the responsibility of the Manager and the Chairman although he was conscious that he and the existing staff at Ninian Park headed by Ceri Whitehead had to create the best environment possible to help the team to succeed. "We all want success for Cardiff City," Temme said. "On the pitch success is vital, but that must be matched by off the pitch commercial performance". Steve Borley, Chairman of the Club added "We are delighted that David has agreed to join us on a full time basis and the board know that he brings a vast amount of experience, along with a huge desire to win and take Cardiff City forward. Many people involved in sport within Wales have the utmost respect for David and his involvement with the Board has been of great benefit to us". Borley continued "Now on a full time basis we can move many new things forward and achieve what we all want - the best for Cardiff City".
