Now that Billys axe has fallen and players know where the stand. Whether they are wanted or not lets try to see what we have left. Players released / left already Mike Ford, Lee Phillips, Jeff Eckhardt and Pat Jennings have all been released. Winston Faerber was given a free transfer and has already left Ninian Park and moved back to Holland. Players given a free transfer. Dai Thomas, Jorn Schwinkendorf, Seamus Kelly, Chris Roberts, Jamie Hughes have been transfer listed. All can leave Ninian Park with no fee involved. I have seen critisism that we have paid money for these players and its scandalous to let them go for nothing. If they stay they are costing the club wages. Especially in the Schwinke case. He earns a lot of money for very little work. Better to remove him that pay for him to be a reserve team player. Players offered a new contract. Jason Fowler. Jason will probably move from Ninian Park. Rumours already link him with a move to Reading. Richard Carpenter. Chippy was expected to stay at City but he appears to have been making himself available behind the scenes. Several clubs are understood to be chasing him and its most likely he will leave. Jon Hallworth. Jon was expected to leave. Its come as quite a shock that he has been offered a new contract and more of a shock that he may take up the offer. Jon has had much critisism last season for certain aspects of his game. With the release of Jennings ands the transfer listing of Kelly we may need Jon. I would expect a new keeper to be signed though if Hallworth signs or not. Danny Hill. Danny is a quality player. Billy must get him to sign. Danny has been hacked off because of a lack of games. He has come into the team in the last few matches and has done more than enough to prove himself. Billy must treat Danny well and encourage his future at Ninian Park. Danny needs to know he will be first choice. There is no reason in my mind why he shouldnt be. Lee Skelly. Lee has made an impression for the youth / reserve side and has made an appearance in the FAW Cup. He has been offered a full contract. Paul Buttery. Paul has been the youth team keeper and was third choice keeper behind Hallworth and Kelly up until Pat Jennings arrival. Jennings though has been released and Buttery has been offered a full time contract.
So who is left. The following players are still under contract and at the moment are the only definite players we have. (Providing they do not ask to leave). Goalkeepers. None. Defence. Young, Perrett, Legg. Midfield. Bonner, Boland, Brazier, Bowen, Low Strikers. Nugent, Nogan, Earnshaw Paul Brayson is only here on loan. Billy wants to sign him but again thats not a done deal.
So in summary. Of 28 first team squad players we have 5 leaving for sure. 5 placed on the transfer list and available for free. 6 players offered new contracts. 11 players still under contract and one loan player that is hoping to sign. |
