| Tues 15th Feb 2000 - City 4 - 0 Aberystwyth. Match report. | |
| February Headlines |
In my match preview I asked for two pieces of good news. One was the final agreement of the takeover and the second was a resounding City win. Well I was rewarded with one of my wishes. The match was as comfortable as the scorline suggests. Early on Aber managed to rattle City and could have scored a couple. But after Andy Legg fired in a brilliant free kick and Mark Bonner turned sweetly and shot in from the edge of the box there was only going to be one winner. The scoring was completed in the second half when Russell Perrett headed home an Andy Legg cross and Kevin Nugent slotted home after being put through by substitute Danny Hill. City started with the same XI that finished against Brentford last Saturday. The conditions were their biggest enemy as heavy wind and rain descended on Ninian Park. The pitch was holding water but was playable. The team has some scares but were always the better side. City made three second half substitutions, Hill, Humphreys and Boland came on for Fowler, Carpenter and Bonner. So its onto the semi finals. No news yet on the draw date or the potential match date. City are the first team to qualify for the semi final stage. It was the fourth time City and Aber have met in a Welsh situation. Like tonights scoreline its 4 - 0 to City in the historical competition as well. |
