In the next 24 hours we will know which players Billy Ayre intends to keep or let go. There is no official news yet but on the eve of the "retained list" I can offer the following information.

Out of contract players.

Jon Hallworth. Jon has been offered a new contract. Whether or not he takes it is another matter. The rumour is that Jon will be kept on a second choice keeper. The current second choice is Seamus. But rumour again has it that Seamus will return to Ireland in a loan deal for the season.

So who will be No. 1 keeper. Well the word on the street is Lee Jones from Bristol Rovers will take up the reigns as City's shot stopper. Jones is from Pontypridd and was understudy to Roger Freestone at Swansea previous to that. Comments from Rovers suggest he is very commanding in the penalty area. Now that will be a change.

Lee Phillips. Lee Phillips has been released by Cardiff City. No new contract has been offered and Lee is a free agent.

Jason Fowler. Jason will leave CCFC under the Bosman ruling. There are strong vibes that he is in advanced talks with Reading FC.

Danny Hill. Danny will leave City if he gets the chance after being left out of the team on many occasions. The player would rather be at another 2nd / 3rd div club, closer to home, where he can get a regular place in the team.

Jeff Eckhardt. Jeff looks like being at the end of his relationship with Cardiff City. Strong rumours that he could move to Barry Town but either way Jeff may have played his last for the Bluebirds.

Mike Ford. Mike as reported before has retired from playing due to long term injury.

Richard Carpenter. Chippy is in contract negotiations. He wants to stay and will accept the right offer.

Players under contract but with a story to tell. (This may get very controversial).

Winston Faerber. Good luck Winnie. Winston flies from the UK on Monday and returns to Dutch football. He moves on a free transfer for family / homesick reasons. (as previously reported).

Matt Brazier. Matty, the peoples signing, is very disillisioned at Ninian Park. He will return to London for the summer and there is increasing speculation that he may ask for a transfer.

Andy Legg. Leggy is not a happy bunny. City refused to sell him to Wigan during the season and its possible that Andy will ask for a transfer. Wigan offered a better contract to him and City have as yet, not matched it. Legg was a follower of Frank Burrows and played his best, most consistent football while Frank was at the club. There was talk that Legg and Ford did not get on. Maybe now Fordy has left Andy may see things differently but if he is not looked after don't be surprised to see him ask to leave.

Seamus Kelly. See above. Seamus may be about to return to Ireland on a 12 month loan deal.

Schwinke. Jorn will remain on the transfer list. City are hoping to move him out on a smilar deal to Winston. A free back to Germany or wherever.

All other players are still under contract. I do not know whether any of them will ask to be put on the transfer list or Billy may put them on himself.

As I said at the start this is not official. I dont think its that far from the truth either.
