Lincoln City have this afternoon issued a press release confirming that they had agreed a £550,000 deal with Cardiff City for the transfer of Gavin Gordon.

Gordon, a 6' 1 striker is their top scorer with 11 goals in 18 league appearances this season. City fans will remember he scored twice for the Imps when City beat them 3 - 2 a few weeks ago. The 21 year old striker was born in Manchester and it would appear he just has to agree personal terms.

There is no word from Ninian Park on the deal but that is their current policy not to confirm or deny transfer speculation until a deal has been done. The amount of £550,000 includes win bonuses and will be paid over a period of time.

Official statement from Lincoln City.
The Club have today agreed a transfer deal with Sam Hamman at Cardiff City for the City striker Gavin Gordon.

The total package is for a figure of £550,000 plus sell on clauses. The fee includes staged payments over two years and appearance bonuses.

What this deal ensures is a steady flow of income to Lincoln City Football Club over a period of time. What it does not mean is an instant windfall solution to the club's problems and we remain under a very tight monetary policy.

Gavin must now agree personal terms with Cardiff City.

The transfer represents an excellent deal for the Club.

We wish Gavin every success in a his future career.

Jerry Lonsdale,
Chief Executive.
