City make a return to league action tomorrow with a tricky game at Brisbane Rd against Leyton Orient. The O's are on a roll and have not been beaten at home this season. That includes Worthington Cup ties against Reading and Newcastle Utd as well. City will want to forget about the 2 - 0 defecit in the last league match when Daniel Gabbidon and Dave Greene both scored own goals. That was City's only league defeat of the season and I think it will make for a tight game tomorrow. In the two weeks off from Div 3 City have had two home wins in the FAW Cup so hopefully there will be a bit of confidence in the team. Scott Young is expected to play despite receiving a training ground injury earlier in the week. He was taken off against Merthyr on Tuesday as a precaution. Young will be partnered in central defence by Jeff Eckhardt. Young's usual partner Dave Greene is suspended and Russell Perrett has had his hopes of a return dashed after injuring himself again. There is talk that Perrett could miss most of the season. Kevin Nugent was due to start training again today but it will be too soon to expect him to play tomorrow. Leo Fortune West will start up front. City welcome back Rob Earnshaw, Kevin Evans and Daniel Gabbidon from international duty. All three are available. City then are likely to line up with Walton in goal, Gabbidon, Eckhardt, Young and Brazier across the back. A midfield of Andy Legg, Danny Hill, Mark Bonner and Jason Bowen with Leo and Earnie up front. Josh Low, Kevin Evans and Paul Brayson could be used instead of Bowen, Bonner and Earnie if required. With Hallworth on the bench the last subs place is likely to go to Mc Culloch. The 16 players named above are my thoughts. I've not seen an official team listing. With league leaders Chesterfield a massive 13 points ahead and in red hot form City cannot afford to drop points. A win maybe a tall order tomorrow but we must get at least a draw. |
