A win, we got a win. A strange game at times, City were coasting at half time 3 - 0 up. Then we conceeded two and lost the little shape we had in the first half. Thankfully Leo Fortune West put the game beyond a full Halifax revival and we bagged the points.

The victory has pushed us up the table 5 places to 5th, in the play off zone, I know thats irrelevant at the moment but psychologically it reminds the players that we are a top team and we should be at the top of the table.

City opened the scoring early on when Scott Young headed home unmarked on 8 minutes, Jason Bowen put City two up on 30 mins when he finished from the edge of the 6 yard box with the nearest Halifax player seemingly miles away. His goal was set up by some fine trickery by Rob Earnshaw on the left wing, he turned his man inside out and sideways before a perfect cross to Nugent who cushioned the ball into Bowens path for the recalled winger to slot home. Rob Earnshaw stole onto a forward pass and cooly flicked the ball past the keeper from the edge of the box for the third goal, a cracking finish and his trademark somersault followed.

As usual the fans, me included, were wondering just how many we could score when former City player Craig Middleton fired home two minutes into the second half after slack defending on the City left. Gary Jones had the Bluebirds contemplating disaster when he pulled another one back for Halifax with 13 minutes to go also created from space found on the City left, but new signing Leo Fortune West got a crucial deflection on a Danny Hill shot and put the game beyond Halifax.

Still a lot to work on especially in defence and midfield, why did we give Halifax so much possession and fail to close them down. Dave Greene was substituted by Bobby Gould after several verbal exchnages between them.

Special final mention to Rob Earnshaw. He was magic tonight. Sponsors man of the match, and the fans man of the match to. Sports.com have given him a perfect 10 in their player ratings. All this on the day it was annopunced he has just signed a new four year contract. Top stuff.
