Chesterfield have created a 15 point gap ahead of City. The Spirites are indebted to
a Luke Beckett winner on 67 mins at home to Hull City. The game was held up for several
minutes due to crowd trouble. Second placed Brighton are five points behind Chesterfield, the Seagulls only managed a goalless draw at Macclesfield today. Rochadale in 3rd place went down to 13th placed Mansfield when former City loan player Chris Greenacre scored an 87th minute winner for 'Dale. Leyton Orient, the team in 4th place and the only other team to have broken the 30 point barrier were held 1 - 1 at Cheltenham today. Southend Scunthorpe and Cheltenham, the teams in 5th, 6th and 7th all failed to win. City are 9th on 26 points, but they have two games ih hand on all the other clubs in the top half of the table. 6 points out of 6 would put City 5th a point behind Rochdale and Orient. I've not yet mentioned the 8th placed team. Barnet today welcomed new player manger Tony Cottee to Underhill and it was Cottee himself who scored for the Bees early on. That was followed by a further 6 goals as Barnet beat Blackpool 7 - 0. That win has taken Barnet above City. Steve McMahon, the Blackpool manager received the October Manager of the Month award. I thinks he's already lost his crown after todays performance. Last season the MotM award was a poisoned chalice, I hope Corky has no designs on winning one. At the bottom Carlisle Utd are still 2 points adrift even though they beat Southend Utd by 3 goals to 1 at Blundell Park today. |
