| May Headlines |
Chris
Brown has kindly reported back after Fordy's testimonial tonight. Good luck to Mike and I
hope hhe gets fair reward for his services to Oxford and Cardiff City. ""Fordy's testimonial went
well tonight with 6,200 fans turning up to watch United beat a Man Utd XI which included
several players who have made Premier League appearances.
Oxford played a normal side 1st half and led 2-1 at half time, after this a whole stack of former colleagues of Fordy turned out and Man Utd went on to equalise before Oxford took the victory. The old boys included Phil Whitehead (Reading) Matt Elliott (Leicester) Phil Gilchrist (Leicester) Andy Melville (Fulham) Jim Magilton (Ipswich) Mickey Lewis (Utd coach) Peter Rhoades-Brown (Utd Community Officer) Stuart Massey (Now retired) In addition Jonathan Gould (Celtic) a close friend of Fordy's also appeared. Many items are being auctioned on behalf of the fund including signed shirts from Gabriel Batistuta, Martin Keown, Jonathan Gould, Jim Smith, Michael Owen, Emile Heskey, Man Utd Goalkeeper. These can be bid for at www.thisisoxfordshire.co.uk In addition the match ball was sponsored by a guy called Gareth from Cardiff who was of course treated to a chorus of 'Going Down'. All in all the night was a success and hopefully one of Oxford's greatest servants was honoured in a way he deserved to be."" |
