| April Headlines |
What an excellent result for City. No one gave the team an earthly chance against top of the table Preston (ahem, I said in my relegation preview on Friday "I predict though that City will get a draw." - I thank you). The highest crowd of the day in the second division and Prestons second highest of the season were not expecting to see the home team kept out and full credit to City for doing so. From the reports I have read and heard Nogan was the live wire in the City attack with several chances to score. Jon Hallworth only had one direct effort to save but Preston did have the majority of the attack with 11 efforts to City's 4. The other releagation battles were helpful to City's cause with Chesterfield, Scunthorpe and Oxford losing and Blackpool and Cambridge managing to draw. There is a full round up of the other teams in the next news item. Jon Hallworth is likely to miss the rest of the season after injuring his hand in the 90th minute. It would appear he has broken a bone in his hand. Seamus Kelly will deputise. This is Deja Vu for Jon. Grand National weekend last season at Orient he broke his ribs and punctured his lung and missed the rest of the promotion campaign. Lets hope that Seamus' heroics then to acheive promotion will come into play and keep us in Div 2. |
