Cardiff City have all but won their group in the first stages of the FAW Premier Cup.
Last night Llanelli beat Merthyr by 4 goals to 2, a result which has left City, who have a
100% record, 6 points ahead of second placed Merthyr. Its unlikely that the Martyrs will
catch up the Bluebirds as all City need is to avoid defeat in either one of the matches at
Merthyr or against Cwmbran. The group winners are guaranteed a home draw in the 1/4 finals and take the cash prize for winning the group. At 500 a point as well City have already picked £6,000 in prize money and will add the £15,000 for winning the group to that tally. All that comes on top of the £20,000 paid to each club for entering. Mickey Mouse, I don't think so. A cheque for £100,000 awaits the winners of the competition. Latest standings CCFC P 4 Pts 12
