Rob Earnshaw scored a winner for City midway through the second half. Earnshaw finished a good move with an unstoppable shot from 10 yards. Earnie celebrated with his customary somersault much to the enjoyment of Sam Hammam and Bobby Gould in the stand.

Earnie nearly scored with an overhead kick later in the game.

Mark Bonner and Andy Legg both started as did Hallworth, Eckhardt and Nogan was upfront with Earnshaw. The team was made up with Lee Skelly, triallist Gethin Jones and youth players Giles, Heal and Busby.
