I have cobbled together some stats / facts / figures / info whatever you want to call it on the trip to Preston tomorrow. Let me know if its useful / interesting and I'll do it for all matches home and away (obviously for the home games I will not include travel arrangements).

Preston are currently top of Division 2. They have a seven point lead and are in a position that Cardiff would love to be in.

moyes.jpg (9871 bytes)Preston took the risk and appointed 36 year old player David Moyes as manager after the resignation of Gary Peters. Moyes was club captain at Deepdale, he moved onto player coach and then assistant manager before getting the job full time. His impressive CV boasts Preston Player of the Year 1996 / 1997, the various stages of management jobs I previously mentioned and the honour of being linked as replacement to Brian Kidd and Man Utd. Moyes has just been awarded the Nationwide Manager of the Month for March. (Hopefully a kiss of death as far as City are concerned).

How to get to Preston.

Leave the M6 at junction 31 (Tickled Trout) and head into Preston. At first roundabout turn right onto Blackpool Road (A583). At 5th lights turn left onto Sir Tom Finney Way and the ground is on the left.

Alternatively

Leave the M6 at junction 31A Preston East/Longridge and head to Preston/Ribbleton. At first roundabout take second exit, at second roundabout take first exit. At first lights turn right onto Watling St Road. At next lights turn left onto Sir Tom Finney Way, the ground is 500 yards further on the left.

Parking:

With the exception of the streets immediately around the ground, parking at Deepdale is quite good with a lot of on and off street parking close to the ground. In addition the club has parking for about 200 cars, and the council has a car-park opposite for a similar figure, each costs approx. £2.00. Note the club car park is not good for a quick getaway and you may get held up until the person in front of you finally gets back to their vehicle.

(nb. don't count pedestrian crossings as sets of lights)

From the Railway station:

A black cab will cost 4-6 pounds (depends on numbers) or a ten minute walk to Europe's largest bus station (turn right along Fishergate and head for the Guildhall). Catch the number 19 bus from stand 19 resting briefly to take in the best of 70's design and concrete technology, buses run right to the ground or stay on to the Garrison/Sumner's for about 70p-ish.
