| Fri 5th May 2000 - Directors invest more cash | |
| May Headlines |
Steve Borley, Michael Isaac, Kim Walker, Paul Guy and David Temme has between them invested a further £250,000 into Cardiff City. This new injection of cash means the shareholding held by Samesh Kumar has been reduced to below 25%. Because Kumar had more than 25% when Clive Sullivan tried to takeover the club he was able to reject a lower offer from Sullivan. Now this latest move has taken away that option. There is no suggestion that a takeover could be coming. The news today takes the line that the directors are using their own money to give the team a chance next season while all the time looking for potential investors. The board are believed to have faith in Billy Ayre to do a job next season. Billy is officially in charge until the seasons end and there will be discussions in the next two weeks on not only Billy's future but the future of the squad. City have seven players out of contract. Jon Hallworth, Jeff Eckhardt, Richard Carpenter, Danny Hill, Mike Ford, Jason Fowler and Lee Phillips. Two are currently on the transfer list, Winston and Schwinke with the rest of the squad still under contract. Billy Ayre will draw up a retained list in the next week. |
