Kurt Nogan, the Cardiff born Preston striker who scored against us
yesterday has been chatting widely to the South Wales media. Its been reported over the
past few weeks that Cardiff could be interested in signing Nogan. A bid from Hull City was
accepted by Preston but Nogan refused to drop a division and the deal went cold.
Today the player has said that there are not
many teams he would play for. Cardiff are one team that he would come to though. He was
born in Llanederyn and his family still live in Cardiff.
Preston wanted £300,000 for the unsettled
striker at the start of the season but with his contract up at the end of the season and a
bosman ruling meaning no return for the Lancashire club they would be willing to cash in
for £100,000. Nogan himself says that £100K for him would be a steal.
Nogan has proved himself at Preston and was
they're top scorer last term. This season though the form and the regular place has gone
and his header against Cardiff yesterday was only his second goal of the season. I have
earlier expressed my concern over signing him but at the moment we need to spice up the
team and a striker that can score goals may be just what we need. What better incentive
for the player than to play for his home town club.
The ball it seems is now in Cardiff's court.
Report from the Lancashire Evening News.
Unsettled striker Kurt Nogan has told Cardiff City: If Preston dont want me
Id love to come home.
The North End frontman, who turned down a pre-Christmas move to Hull, admitted after
scoring in yesterdays 4-0 win at Ninian Park: It would take a special club to
make me leave Preston, and Cardiff are special.
It is my home city club, I was born and bred there and I would love to play for them
if I am not wanted at Deepdale.
City boss Frank Burrows has been eyeing up Nogan since news leaked out that the North End
board had accepted a £100,000 offer from Hull for a 29-year-old who is out of contract at
the end of the season.
That move was thought to have fallen through over the players personal terms.
But Nogan said in Cardiff yesterday: I was never going to join Hull.
I am honestly not sure what the situation is at Preston.
If they dont want me then I hope Cardiff make an offer for me.
I would say £100,000 is a good price. I would be a steal for that.
After all Preston wanted £300,000 only a year or so ago.
But as things stand I am being paid by North End and that is where my loyalties lie.
Nogans three-year contract expires in June and the player would be a free agent
under Bosman. |
