Cheltenham have gone top of Div 3 after a 2 - 0 away win at Hull City. Former Swansea player Julian Alsop scored their opening goal. Orient are second on goal difference, they picked up an away point at Halifax after doing a "City" and squandering a 2 - 0 lead, both teams have 11 points. Chesterfield and Scunthorpe are 3rd and 4th with 10 points. City have dropped back to 11th place on 7 points after wins for Carlisle, Lincoln and Barnet lifted them above the Bluebirds. City are one of 4 teams still unbeaten, the others being Cheltenham, Orient and Darlington. City play Brighton at Ninian Park next Saturday. The Seagulls put 6 past Torquay this weekend so don't expect a 0 - 0 next week. City will have to sort themselves defensively, we are gifting goals to poor oposition, if Brighton are hitting some goal scoring form then we need to sharpen up. Another match to look out for next Saturday is 1st v 3rd, Cheltenham v Chesterfield, if City can win then we stay in touch but a City defeat and a Cheltenham win could see us 7 points behind the leaders. At the bottom the football league is being held up Hull City, the Tigers are there courtesy of letting in more goals that Exeter and Halifax who all have 3 points. Its early days, we are only 4 points from the top of the table. (Oh and by the way, we are only 4 points from the bottom as well). |
