Billy Ayre was sacked this morning as Cardiff City's head coach.

Billy had been twice demoted, from manager to assistant and from assistant to coach. Now he has had his contract terminated.

There has been very little comment on the matter today. It apears Billy was told the news at 9:30am today. He spoke to the Echo and confirmed his dismissal and nothing further. There have been no comments from either Bobby Gould or Sam Hammam.

Good luck to Billy in his future employment.

Report from BBC Wales Online.
Billy Ayre has been sacked as Head Coach at Cardiff City.

The amiable Geordie was manager at the club last season, but has been demoted twice since Sam Hammam took over at Ninian Park.

Ayre was made assistant to new Bluebirds boss Bobby Gould at the start of the season and then appointed senior coach when Alan Cork arrived as assistant manager.

No one at Cardiff was available for comment.

Ayre has been linked with the vacant managerial post at third division Halifax.
